Excellent food for only 170 Rs. Curry and rice or fried rice. Generous serving, homestyle Sri Lankan cooking, filtered water. Best in the area that we've tried as well as the cheapest.
Ambience is incredible, it is after all an art gallery filled with paintings from a famous local artist, Jayasiri Semage, and his students. Also two paintings are done by a famous Spanish painter of local scenes. Clean, soothing, well lit, it feels like you are eating in a warm home.
People: A very kind family, happy to share knowledge of Sri Lanka. They clearly love their country and its wonders. They make you want to explore Sri Lanka, they inspire you after a hectic day in Colombo. Or when you feel that some people are only trying to get money from you, they show you that their are people in Sri Lanka who genuinely want you to enjoy your time in their country.
Shopping: Beautiful postcards of Jayasiri Semage's paintings, hand painted and carved wooden elephant statues and key chains for a more than decent price.
This place was one of the biggest highlights in all of the traveling we've done.
